What is the J-MOS System?

 

The Jefferson – Manufacturing Operation System, is a software package designed by a custom wood architectural millwork firm located in Virginia. Due to the internal success of this program we believe it is of great value to similar firms in our industry.

The J-MOS system is designed as an in-house software package used as the central communication tool between the Owners, Estimators, Project Managers, Production Staff, floor personnel, and accounting department.

J-MOS creates and organizes millwork orders; loads and tracks hours in Real-Time; creates fabrication reports; job analysis; capacity plans for fabrication windows; what if scenarios for task completions; posted hours reports; delivery tickets; time sheets; comparisons of estimated vs. actual hours; data collection using barcoded work orders and touch-screen input devices; tracks: parts, batches, tasks or processes, hours on jobs and work orders, employee time; percent completion updates, expected due date completion, quantity of parts and batch completion; Real-Time snapshot of what's going on in the shop; warns of time overages, late completions; non-value added labor tracking… and much more.

Jefferson Industrial Software’s office is physically located in a millwork plant and intends to stay in this environment. The only way to keep a pulse on the industry and change with its trends is not be apart from it! Being a part of the everyday action helps hone the needs for the J-MOS System.

J-MOS is an evolution of ideas stemming from the basic needs of workers in our industry. There is an ongoing never-ending challenge to supply this need and we are dedicated to meet this challenge.

Before you purchase time management and organizational software, whether theirs or ours, consider this:

  • Be sure the software is priced so you can get a quick return on your investment!
  • Check for hidden costs (i.e.: seats, updates, service, hardware, compatibility).
  • Make sure you need, and will use all the packages you are paying for when you buy software, or, at least use most of them.
  • Feel comfortable with whom you’re dealing with, be sure they know your industry!
  • Is the software company “listening” to you?
  • Look hard at how easy the software is to use and how long the learning curve will be.
  • How accessible is the data once it has been collected? Is the data proprietary?
  • How much does it cost to add a person, station or computer to the “system”?
  • What do you get with the service contract?
